Krzysztof Król, PhD Eng., acting President of the State Mining Authority

As of March 25, 2024, Prime Minister Donald Tusk dismissed Adam Mirek, PhD Eng., from the position of President of the State Mining Authority. On March 26, 2024, the Prime Minister appointed the 1st Vice-President of the State Mining Authority, Krzysztof Król, PhD Eng., to act as the President of the State Mining Authority until a permanent President is appointed.

The 33rd edition of the Underground Mining School took place on February 26-28, 2024 in Krakow. It is a cyclic science and technology conference attended by practicing miners, representatives of companies associated with mining and scientists to exchange their views and solutions. For years, the event has been regarded as one of the most important meetings of engineers and scientists working in and for the underground mining industry.

In 2023, the mining helpline rang 54 times

The State Mining Authority helpline was launched in 2011. It is available 24h a day, seven days a week. Calls are answered by an on-duty dispatcher who receives notifications about various irregularities and safety hazards in mining plants. Such notifications can be also made by e-mail at wug@wug.gov.pl and by traditional mail. All notifications are recorded, carefully analyzed and verified by mining supervision inspectors.
