Until 1939
1922
- On July 24th the State Mining Authority (SMA) is established in Katowice by the Council of Ministers. SMA's administrative area covers the Silesian province.
- On June 27th four new District Mining Offices (in Rybnik, Królewska Huta — nowadays Chorzów, Katowice and Tarnowskie Góry) are established by the Minister of Industry and Trade.
1923
- On July 2nd the "Mining-and-Police Ordinance of the State Mining Authority in Katowice" is implemented.
1924
- On the initiative of the SMA, experimental mine "Barbara" and Mine Rescue Centre in Pniówek (later moved to Mikołów) are established.
1930
- The first Polish Mining Law is introduced by the Polish President.
1939
- After World War II breaks out, invaders take control over three State Mining Authorities (Germans over Authorities in Katowice and Cracow, Russians over Authority in Lvov).
