Good practices for tunnelling to be developed at the State Mining Authority
11 February 2026On 10 February, the first meeting of the Team for the Development of Good Practices in Tunnel Drilling was held at the State Mining Authority.
The team was established on the initiative of the President of the SMA as a platform for cooperation between public administration, the scientific community and representatives of companies carrying out tunnel construction projects in Poland.
The meeting was chaired by the Vice-President of the SMA, Piotr Wojtacha, who emphasised that the development of coherent and up-to-date good practices would contribute to ensuring the proper and efficient implementation of tunnel investments. He noted that these practices would provide important support for both mining supervisory authorities and entrepreneurs operating in the tunnelling sector.
The aim of the team’s work is to identify key issues and develop recommendations and good practices for the preparation, implementation and supervision of tunnel drilling projects, which may form the basis for further organisational and legislative measures.
The team was appointed by order of the President of the State Mining Authority on 1 December 2025. In 2025, the SMA also developed the Methodology for the Supervision and Control of Tunnel Drilling.
