The article contains the research findings used to appraise stability, and achieved in the dog headings located at the different depths. The implementation of numerical calculations allowed the various rock fissuring zones for dog headings being at the depths 700, 1000 and 1300 meters to be determined. For actual mining and geological conditions of the dog heading at a depth of 1300 meters the casing diagram was proposed.

The utilization of methane being liberated during opencast mining of coal beds is essential for economic and ecological reasons. In Poland, the methane being liberated during mining of coal is carried away to the surface by using methane drainage system (high content of methane from 30% to 100% CH4) as well as together with discharge air (maximum permissible content 0.75% CH4).
The article presents resources MWENT in Poland as well as the analysis of MWENT utilization possibilities for energy and heating purposes.

The article presents an example of use of decision trees to an analysis of parameters describing technical condition of toothed gears used in the power transmission systems of mining machines. There is proved that a data analysis from a multidimensional perspective increases an opportunity of effective recognition of state of machine in relation to previously used methods in this regard through the increase in correctness of data classification.
