21 World Mining Congress – Legal Session in the State Mining Authority

On 10 September 2008 in the State Mining Authority in Katowice took place the session on legal aspects of mining activity of the 21 World Mining Congress.
The aim of the session was to present sources of law in the field of mineral extraction and use of the interior of the ground as well as to discuss the scope of regulation of mining legislation that points out these activities that are covered by geological and mining law in individual countries. Presented were also the tasks of bodies responsible for supervision and control over observance to legal rules concerning mining activity in individual states.
Representatives from Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Germany, India, Nigeria, Republic of South Africa, Slovakia, Spain, Sri Lanka and Poland submitted 17 papers to the session.
During the session break the President of the State Mining Authority Piotr Buchwald signed declaration concerning the detailed rules and subjects of the cooperation of the mining authorities of the Czech Republic, Federal Republic of Germany and Republic of Poland.
