Heads of German mining authorities on visit in SMA

On 29–30 October 2007, Reinhard Schmidt – the President of Saxony’s Mining Authority in Freiberg and Claus Freytag – the President of the State Mining Authority of Brandenburg paid a visit to Katowice, at the invitation of the President Piotr Buchwald. At the meeting in the SMA, German delegates were informed about organisation and tasks of Polish mining authorities. Moreover, German and Polish legal solutions in the field of market surveillance system, operation plans of mining plants, mining concessions and compensations for mining damage were discussed.

The German delegation visited also “Wujek" coal mine in Katowice. At the meeting with the director Krzysztof Kurak, guests were informed about mine’s history, exploitation processes and activities in the field of H&S. The delegates had also an opportunity to observe mining operations with hydraulic filling at the level of 680 m. German delegation also visited the monument of 9 miners who were murdered on 16 December 1981 in “Wujek" colliery.
