Working together for the future of mining regions - the second EMRIE stakeholder meeting
16 April 2026On 15 April 2026, the second meeting of stakeholders in the EMRIE project (`European Mining Regions Innovation Ecosystems supporting the Circularity and Resource Efficiency`) took place at Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
The event focused on developing modern solutions for mining regions, with particular emphasis on the circular economy and the efficient use of resources. Representatives of public administration, the academic community and the raw materials industry attended the meeting. Dagmara Solatycka, Deputy Director of the District Mining Office in Wrocław, was also present.
The meeting was opened by representatives of the Marshal's Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and the Dean of the Faculty of Geoengineering, Mining and Geology at Wrocław University of Technology. During the event, a report was presented on the inaugural meeting of project partners in Seville, and progress on the regional analysis being prepared in collaboration with Wrocław University of Science and Technology was discussed. A significant part of the meeting was a discussion on good practices from Lower Silesia in the field of mining innovation. Another key item on the agenda was a presentation on practical barriers to waste management, including mining waste, in the context of research and pilot projects for the mining sector. The organisation of further project activities was also discussed, including a study visit by project partners to Lower Silesia in March 2027.
The EMRIE project, funded under the Interreg Europe programme, aims to support the development of innovation ecosystems in European mining regions, with a particular focus on the efficient use of strategic and critical raw materials and the implementation of circular economy principles.
